Heroes are in Fashion!
These photos are from Paris Fashion Week. The designer, Felipe Olievira Baptista, has been influenced by comics. My question is for the ladies; would you wear this on the street? Am I missing the point to Haute Couture?
Runway designers are just plain old batshit crazy. Even some of the designers for the mass market stores are kinda crazy, too. Makes shopping more fun, though, because you can hold things up for your friends to see and say "Oh my god, check THIS out! Can you believe it? Who would wear this?!" Good times.
I'm thinking of the movie 'The Devil Wears Prada'. There is a scene where Meryl Streep explains the purpose of Haute Couture. How something that shows up on a runway will be noticed and copied and trickle down to the masses.
Fashion trends started from the top down. Is this the case here? The Dr. Doom hood on sale at Target?
I disagree. Haute Couture it to fashion what modern art is to academy illustration. The point isn't it's utility or verisimilitude, the point is to shock and provoke.

Sure, I'd wear those on the street. On Halloween.

I will start using the phrase 'Batshit Crazy' from this day forward.
If I'm not mistaken, Haute Couture is a lot like masturbation.

I would call these outfits ridiculous. Not so much shocking. But then again a lot of clothing from the 80s was ridiculous.
